In this project, I carefully selected typefaces that reflected the mood of pre-existing albums for a cover redesign. For American Idiot by Green Day, I selected a typeface that is reminiscent of the punk era and layered and pushed the letterforms together to indicate feelings of loudness and rebellion. The strategy for the Finding Nemo album involved selecting a typeface that mimicked the flow of water and scattering the letters to invite the viewer to “find” the words. The driving force behind my design for Houses of the Holy by Led Zeppelin was “The Rain Song.” I once again chose to scatter the letterforms, but this time in a way that would resemble rain and positioned them against a black background to indicate the sense of optimism the song has.
