About

My design style is influenced by phenomenology and experimenting with ways to make the mundane appear otherworldly by cropping, obscuring, or pushing the physical boundaries of a page. My style is driven by whimsy and a playful interaction between text and imagery, and I let texture and tactility drive much of my work to ground it back in reality and invite the viewer to take a closer look. I have a strong interest in the psychology of color, and carefully use color to indicate the tone or mood of a piece.

Emma Burke is an artist and designer based in Chattanooga, TN. Her process involves combining physical and digital materials to create compositions that challenge perspectives and provoke a deeper reading. Her work questions the associations humans have between color and emotion and how color can be used to create meaning. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Burke has recently contributed work to the Chattanooga Public Library and WonderPress, a local print shop.
